Greg Giraldo dead
Such sad, sad news. After a hospitalization due to an “accidental” overdose, comedian Greg Giraldo is dead.

TMZ is reporting that Greg passed away at the hospital in New Brunswick, NJ where he was hospitalized for an accidental prescription overdose. A source told TMZ that “Greg passed away today at the hospital in New Brunswick as a result of an accidental overdose. His family was by his side.”
A source is saying that the overdose was not ruled a suicide.
For those of you unfamiliar with his work, Greg was a judge on Last Comic Standing and took part in the Comedy Central celebrity roasts. He was by far probably the only funny person on that roast panel. Just sayin’.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Greg’s family and friends, especially his four kiddos. So sad!

Colette Carr is Nick Cannon’s newest protege and taking a stab at the music scene with a vengeance. She hasn’t quite made her mark, but she already has a hardcore following.

DANITY: Just when you think the music industry couldn’t get any more colorful and controversial, we’ve got the up-in-your face extraordinarily talented up-and-comer Miss Colette Carr, how are you doing, dahling?
COLETTE: I’m EXCITED!! I just booked tickets to NY for the CherryTree FREE WIRED party where I’m going to perform with Far East Movement! Pretty fly! Like a G6 *reflip* is totally about to be bananas!
DANITY: Your 17-track mixtape titled Sex Sells…Stay Tooned is out now. Many critics are comparing you to the likes of Ke$ha and Uffie, how would you describe your music to fans who haven’t heard it yet?
COLETTE: My music is extremely individual and unique. I think people are trying to compare me left and right to other artists because they can’t handle the fact that I am so different- it freaks them out. NO boxes please.
DANITY: And wowsers, girlfriend…you managed to generate over 29,000 downloads in just 4 days on your website. How did you do that?
COLETTE: YAY 29,000 downloads in 4 days…I’m still processing! I’m so grateful for the internet! All those peeps that stood outside in blazing hot/freezing weather handing their hard copy mixtures out by hand, walking 100 miles to school every day in the snow are SO jealous right now! Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, momentum, the cCarr Goers make it GO! I’m so grateful.
DANITY: You even have a clever jam on your mixtape titled the Bieber Interlude that is sure to stir up a little bit of
controversy amongst Baby Biebs fans. What inspired the concept?
COLETTE: Luckily everyone sees that it’s all in good spirits- to put it bluntly the Bieber Interlude is just me fucking around (literally) and having fun.
DANITY: Bieber has Usher and you have Nick Cannon. Let’s talk about your relations with Mr. Cannon. How did your collaborative efforts with Nick and his label NCredible come to be?
COLETTE: Beibs+Usher and Colette+Nick should play a doubles tennis match, just saying. I love Nick. He is so down to earth. He’s a hard worker that knows how to have fun. He saw my video “Back It Up” when it was #1 on MTV and the rest is history. PS…My mixtape is FREE and is called Sex Sell Stay Tooned and its on ColetteCarr.com.
DANITY: Get it, girl! Speaking of collaborations, you’ve already worked with some heavy hitters in the industry. From Space Cowboy to Far East Movement and Pharrell. Who are some of your influences when you sit down to make a track?
COLETTE: Life in general inspires and influences me! I’m so fortunate to be working with such creative bad asses so it’s pretty hard not to feel inspired and ready to write when I’m around them. I got some awesome collab stuff coming up with artist like Vincent Frank, Cherry Cherry Boom Boom, Damon Elliott, Nick Cannon, I just get to make music make music make music. It’s too much fun…I am a lucky ducky.
DANITY: Alright, girlfriend, I have a few fans questions here for you if you wouldn’t mind answering them. What is on your ipod right now?
COLETTE: My 2005 gigantic monster grandpa ipod that survived a freeway car accident is stuck on shuffle with about 10,000 songs on rotation. I’ll admit it’s pretty awesome, I definitely have a huge variety on there, from WU Tang, to Britney Spears, to The Cure, All kinds of Greek and Turkish Music, Baris Manco, plus I for sure have Dr. Evil singing Its A Hard Knock Life with Mini me…you know, the essentials.
DANITY: What would you be doing if you weren’t doing music? Who or what inspires your sense of style?
COLETTE: If you watch the “Life in the Day of Colette Carr” episodes you can see my story, and how destiny really just took me to where I am today. Sounds a lil’ cheese ball for me but its true. I was a tennis player and if you had asked me then what I would be doing instead of tennis I would have NEVER guessed my life today. I want to make the world a better brighter more colorful, loving and real place- in a not so butterfly sugar-gum-drop way. My style is similar actually, bright, colorful, real, not so butterfly sugar-gum-drop. Some say I look like I got lost in a rainbow in the dark, whatever I just keep it real, customize my Chuck Taylors and silly glasses all day! I don’t have pin point inspiration for my style I just do what I do gon’ and rock it out!
DANITY: Where do you see yourself five years from now?
COLETTE: In 5 years from now I plan to be doing BIG MONDO thangs! I am ecstatic to see what kind of dent I am able to establish in such a short time frame. Imma just keep working my butt off, yes…keep my head on right…not too right, and see what
happens. LETS HAVE FUN PEOPLE!
DANITY: Well no matter where you are at five years from now I am sure you will rapping and fiercely representin’! Go on with your bad self, girl.
COLETTE: Thanks! I have such a huge expectations and goals for myself. I feel like Rocky fighting the big fight trying to make a difference! Trying to make some peeps put their freaking hands up! Ya know!? It’s a cCarr movement! Lets GOOOOOOO! Thank you!

Deadliest Catch stars quit show
Kind of interesting timing for the Hillstrands to all three quit their hit show on the Discovery channel. It was just earlier this month that they were sued by the network for a big fat $3 million. Apparently the guys decided they didn’t want to work on the upcoming spin-off titled the “Hillstranded” and bam, they got their butts thrown a lawsuit.

Captain Hansen said he only quit because the other dudes threw in the towel. He explains, “I want people to know the captains stand together, and me and my brothers support them 100 percent.”
An official statement from the Hillstrands and Hansen was released via The Hollywood Reporter stating, “We have been through a lot over the past year and unfortunately given the current situation with Discovery we are unable to continue participating in ‘Deadliest Catch. It has been a fantastic ride, and we wish the best to all of the amazing and supportive ‘Catch’ fans we have met over the years.”
Jeff Cohen, the Hillstrands’ lawyer, said, “We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for the captains. I think MaryAnne from Minnesota put it best when she wrote to us: ‘The show was meant to shed light on a profession these men so valiantly and tirelessly do season after season, not bankrupt them and take away their livelihood.’”
Livelihood? Pfft. The networks don’t care about livelihood anymore, peeps. It’s all about the Benjamins, baby!

George Lucas is bringing all six Star Wars back in 3D.
Ok 3D lovers, I have big news on the 3D front. George Lucas is set to re-release the entire Star Wars saga in new 3D conversions beginning in 2012. Though the 3D versions have been rumored for some time, Lucas was purportedly waiting until there were enough 3D screens available to make the release a sizable enough event.
The Phantom Menace would be first one out in the early months of 2012. After that, each of the films would be released in order at the same time each consecutive year, depending on how well the first re-release does. Each conversion takes at least a year to complete, with Lucas personally overseeing the process to make sure each one is as perfected as possible. Lucas has said that the “Avatar” experience convinced him to do this. Lucas is purportedly cuing up the theatrical re-releases as a lead-in to the ultimate home viewing experience. Beyond that, the property would launch to all other 3D media.
This 3D mania is too much for me. Maybe I’m old fashioned and I’m complaining like an old person saying that the music of my time is trash. I thought 3D would be good for movies that look good in 3D and were meant for 3D and originally filmed in 3D. But now they want to make everything in 3D even if it is unnecessary and they want to re-release every old movie that exists in 3D? As a child I grew up on the three original (and still best) Star Wars movies and I’m tired of taking these classics and trying to “make them better”.

Laila Ali, pregnant with baby number two
Congratulations is in order for the gorgeous Laila Ali! She and her hubby Curtis Conway are expecting their second little kiddo together.
Laila told People magazine the news saying, “I am pregnant again! I’m three months, and I’m so excited, my family is excited. I’m hoping it’s a girl this time!”
Whether she pops out a girl or boy this time around, Laila’s papa (the legendary) Muhammad Ali, is excited to be a grandpa again. Laila adds, “My dad is an excellent grandfather. He loves kids. He loves to kiss them to death.”
With this second pregnancy, Laila is packing on the pounds, despite her hardcore workout regimen. She explains, “I’ve noticed I’m putting on weight faster this time, I started showing sooner. Staying fit is a challenge, even if you are a former athlete such as myself, because you just don’t have the energy that you used to have. Also, I have to hold myself back because I want to work harder than I’m able to.”
And believe me, she isn’t about to indulge in donuts or big fat bags of chips. She adds, “Pregnancy isn’t ‘I can eat whatever I want,’ because you have to remember you’re going to be stuck with a lot of that weight afterwards that you need to try to get off. So I don’t recommend ‘grubbing’. I have cravings all the time, even when I’m not pregnant.”
The couple have a two-year-old son named Curtis Junior, aka CJ.
We can’t wait to see that baby bump, girlfriend!

Pete Doherty, cocaine bust
While it has been some time since I’ve written about Doperty, you sure as hell haven’t been missing much. I am not sure what happened to the weave mice at this point, the last I knew they were playing hide-in-seek up in Joaquin Phoenix’s bush on his face. But as you know Joaquin’s snarly bush is gone. At any rate, Pete is still indulging in the snort snort and not being too smart about it…not that doing drugs is smart in the first place, but geez.
Back in March Pete was busted with cocaine and yesterday he got charged. In case you didn’t know, he was also suspected of supplying the snort snort to now dead heiress Robin Whitehead…who died from a drug overdose earlier this year.
Luckily for Pete he is wasn’t charged for being an alleged supplier…yet. That is yet to come. October 18th, Pete and his buddy Peter Wolf are to show up for court and could face jail time if they are convicted!
A source said, “Pete’s adamant he played no part in Robin’s death. He is still very distressed.”

Lindsay Lohan rehab
Well it’s official. Freckles has arrived at her second home, a live-in rehab facility in Southern California. TMZ is reporting that the starlet is looking to get some help with her substance abuse problem. In other words, she’s trying to make it look good before her upcoming court appearance on October 22nd. And we’ve all heard that song and dance before.
It has been just four days since Lilo was in court for failing her court-mandated drug tests. While she is set to show up to court on October 22nd, you know this beotch is trying to show the judge she is making an effort at bettering herself. Yep, we’ve heard this shiznit all before. She’s a changed person yadda yadda yadda even though she throws a big fat finger to the judicial system. Yawn.
Here’s to hoping that she will serve more that 14 days in jail this next time around…because you know there will be a next time.

Dita Von Teese, CSI guest star appearance
CSI is sure delivering a star-studded guest star cast. In an upcoming episode of CSI, the sexy Dita Von Teese will be making an appearance on the show.
So what will her role be on the show? Get the deets after the jump.
Executive producer Carol Mendelsohn explains that this particular episode will have Teese starring as a “classic Hollywood femme fatale”. Interesting.
Carol said, “Her character is absolutely unlike what she seems. Prepare to be tantalized and tormented.”
Sounds pretty fierce!
